On 6-8 November 2013, the Prado National Museum hosted the Second Conference on Museum Libraries, organised by BIMUS, the Library Museum Network, which has its headquarters at that Madrid art gallery. The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona’s Study Centre took part in this event, presenting a lecture.
The title of this year’s conference was Strategies for Crisis; Innovative Projects and New Spaces. Taking part on behalf of the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, the director of the museum’s Study Centre, Albert Díaz, introduced the round table on “Library museums. Spaces” with an address entitled “A new space for design in Barcelona: the Museu del Disseny Study Centre”. In this way, the project for the new study centre, housed in Disseny Hub Barcelona, made an important contribution to one of the most prestigious forums in the museum documentation sector.
BIMUS, the Library Museum Network, has eighteen members: the Library of the National Theatre Museum, attached to INAEM (the National Institute for the Performing Arts and Music); and the seventeen libraries at State museums organised directly by the Ministry of Culture through the Directorate-General for Fine Arts and Cultural Goods.
