Intro:

For the second consecutive time, Disseny Hub Barcelona hosts Catalonia’s most important fashion event.

The 12th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion will continue until this coming Friday, July 12, with a full programme of activities revolving around fashion, design and creativity. The main objective of this event, organise to display to the world the creative talent of our fashion designers, is to become a meeting point for the textile and fashion industry in all its facets: academic, creative and productive.

The new edition kicked off yesterday by shining the spotlight on Isak Andic’s Mango brand in a show whose main features were leather and combinations of black and red.

As every year, and in agreement with the Government of Catalonia’s Directorate-General for Trade, one of the dresses from the prize-winning collection will be inducted into the collections of the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, thus enriching the city’s heritage. The winner will take over from the young designer Miriam Ponsa, whose “Transhumància” [“Transhumance”] collection was awarded this honour at the previous edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, which took place in January. The museum’s clothing section, one of its most important departments, was built up by donations from major collections, such as that of Manuel Rocamora, and fashion designers, including Pedro Rodríguez and Toni Miró.

This five-day event features a total of thirty-two fashion shows, devoted to such outstanding designers as Manuel Bolaño, Josep Abril, Guillermina Baeza, Justicia Ruano, as well as firmly established brands like Custo Barcelona,Desigual, Punto Blanco/Slazenger and Escorpión. The programme also includes two workshops, organised by Texfor and ACTM /CECOTEX, and a masterclass by a leading professional from the industry.
